A Rock And A Hard Place

Today I received word that my friend's horse had been put down. Not from a twisted intestine, broken leg, or old age, no someone poisoned him. I know this hit her hard, especially since it hasn't been that long since someone poisoned one and shot another of her horses. Several dogs and a goat have met the same fate. They suspects are the neighbors and a former friend, but they can't prove it.
The route of the Humane Association is out of the question. The current people are bigger enemies to animals then animal abusers. They've just been coming in, taking HEALTHY animals, and immediately putting them down. Sure you can sue, but the animal is dead. As to why they're doing this....cause they can?

So now she has both the HA and poisoners to worry about.

So what's the point of this post? She needs to relocate. Currently she has all her horses spread in rented pastures ranging from a 15 minute drive to an hour except for the few at home (where they were killed). Rent is killing her.
I'd appreciate any information that could possibly help her out. Government help, any information on cheap land around Ohio, West Virginia, or Pennsylvania, etc. Every little thing will help.

I'd really appreciate it. Killing a pet makes me sick, but this hit me hard especially since I knew and liked Frankenstein. And I'm saddened I didn't get to meet Taz and Windwalker, I hear so many stories about these great horses. I also fear for the living, both the people and the animals.

Well...daaang. That's just...mrf...mm...that's awful, Sundance...I wish I had something to suggest, but I really don't. What a sick thing for anyone to do, and what a terrible situation for your friend and her animals. I hope they can come to some sort of happy resolution. That whole experience sounds absolutely abominable. I'll keep them in my thoughts...

I'm very sorry to hear that, Sundance. It, too, makes me miffed how people can be so cruel (if you catch my drift). You just feel that way. It's difficult to explain, but you feel it.

As for information, I'm afraid I'm to no avail there. If I can, I'll try and provide you some info as I go along. I can search, but I can't promise I'll find anything to great assistance.

I hope things will improve, Sundance. I truly do. I'll keep your friend and her animals in my prayers. May things get better.

What is the matter with people? What a sick thing to do. Poor animals, they didn't deserve any of that.

Sorry to hear the news Sundance. It's always a great travesty when someone harms an animal. I too don't have any info but I know western Pennsylvania tends to have cheap land prices available. Perhaps the government can help as well.

We've (Mom and I) been trying to get hold of her again. She hasn't been home, nor has anyone been at the barn. I'm hoping that everything else is going right with her, she was so distraught about the horse that she didn't say what else was going on.
She's located in southwestern PA actually.

Sundance, your friend is in a bad way right now!
Given the general public attitude about ownership I would suspect one of the landowners that your friend is in business with is behind all this. What better way to get a tennent to evacuate the premisies in this situation than to create an opening at your friends place.
Someone wants her out.
The total disregard for life scares the H*** out of me! It's becomming so common anymore. Nothing is sacred!
I suspect this will happen again until she vacates the demented one's property. My sis has horses and we all love them very much. Maybe too much. Watch your friend for signs of depression setting in. God! That's terrible news.

wow im really srry about that. i know if someone killed any of my pets id kill them i dont understand why calling the police and reporting that someone is tresspassing onto private property and killing personaly owned animals wouldnt work if anything the pers could get in trouble for tresspassing even though thats not the big concern?
