Good grief!
It's like a party at the Lounge :D
Welcome to everyone, old friends (I remember you too Wolf) and new.
I'm actually typing this on a new laptop, and one one of the first things that I installed was Zoo Tycoon.
We have four PCs altogether in the house and every one of them has CC installed, it's as essential as a good firewall or anti-virus software.

That was a phrase Wally used and one of the other Admins thought it would be funny to have the system automatically change the name to that so people would remember Wally's "words of wisdom" (ie, sense of humor).

Hello fellow ZT buffs! Just recently acquired ZTCC for my girls and have found it quite addicting myself... B)

As for the girls... They love the program and I think it's good for kids, where they can put something together that is "theirs" and then have to figure out how to keep it running.

On the other hand, there is me, and my insistent need to figure things out and how to improve on them. I'm sure I will make myself more than a pain to more than one other member here in the process... :D

I have D/L a few “extras" and have been researching how to create my own. The thing I have noticed is that all the information is so scattered. I have been compiling clips from different posts and trying to assemble them into a coherent format. I'll let you know how that project is coming along... And any help with what should go where would be appreciated! @_@

Hi welcome to ZKL
While I love this site, as far as creation goes this site is fairly quiet these days and mostly people come here for the downloads. However this site has one of the most knowledgable designers around and he has been doing some tutorials. So keep an eye on this area ZT1 Designer Info
There are also a number of sites that are putting together info in certain areas. There are 3 very active sites ZTUF, ZA and Tek. They are all listed in that fansite area below and all have lots of APE information and other design info.

Thanks for the Greeting Fern! I feel I know you, and some of the other regulars already... I have been reading the boards for a while now, here and at the other sites too!

Yes, I came for the d/l's but got hooked on learning more about the editing and programming. I d/l'd the latest version of APE yesterday, but I'm having trouble with finding the auto-rotation programs. Could you point me to them? Any other suggestions of what I would need and where to get it would be great!

I have noticed that Jay is quite the "man" when it comes to knowing what's going on! I have had a little experience with technical and manual writing and hopefully, when I have gathered all the info together and then get it ordered and organized correctly, he and everyone will like the "little" manual that comes from it.

It might seem ambitious, but I'm going to start messing with buildings first. I have a few of my own ideas, hay storage barns and such, as well as a few from the wish lists. I have noticed that there are few "newly" designed items, due to all the detailed programming I'm sure, and that most things are re-designed, to avoid all the detailed programming.

Thank you. Yes, I am well know around the sites.
Well one thing to stay away from is Mark Bells building tutorials. They were written way back before MM came out and the info is dated and much of if wrong. So much more has been written since then. Don't get me wrong here. Mark was a pioneer for file making and made some nice files but ZT also changed things in the expansions and since then we have learnt a lot more about what works and what doesn't.
Start with something simple like bathrooms or attractions.
Jay and I have been working on a bunch of new tutorials which will be posted at the Designers Guild eventually.
I suggest you get APExp from the ABC site. There is an english version as the site is in german. APExp
As for Zoot and Makhor - They are in this thread at the Designers Guild. Here
Makhor is one of the best creations MarkBell made but a lot of people have trouble getting in to work in xp. Although I have. Neither are auto rotation programs. They just make it a lot easy than doing it in Winhex.
They belong to Zoo Admin so will be available there too when we get the files all uploaded again.
Before you make a building you need to be able to make it as scenery and have it looking good ingame.
Have fun.

Hey Superlion! Thanks for the welcome!

Fern, I had previously d/l'd APExp from ABC. Took some doing with the translator, but I got it! Just finishing the d/l of ZOOT & Makhor. Yes, I will start with something a little easier! Not that any of it looks to be that easy at the moment! LOL Thanks for the info about the heads up on the earlier documentation. I'll keep it in mind as I'm going.

A new question for you Fern... I have been having trouble setting up my registration at ZTek. I sent a plea to the MOD for help, but was wondering if you had any thoughts.

Hope you had a fantastic weekend!

I have sent a pm to genkicoll at Tek for you.
You haven't said what the problem is, so I don't know how to help other than that.
