I saw Dodgeball this weekend, too. It was soooo funny! I loved it when Chuck Norris ruled in their favor, and then at the very end when Stiller says that little line....it made me laugh.

I was wondering if that was Stiller (main character), but I wasn't sure. At the beginning, when he was lying on the couch, he looked a bit pudgy, and I thought "Ben, honey, what has happened to you?"... Then he stood up, and he looked so much skinnier.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Yeah, the whole reason he was fitness obsessed is because he used to look the way he did at the very end. At least that's how I understood it....and that the reason he was so "self-confident" was because he thought he was better than everyone else. It was hilarious....I also liked the part where they got the wrong uniforms.

Last week I saw Harry Potter 3 and Troy. This week I saw Spiderman 2.

Although not as good as LOTR or Harry Potter 1, I liked Spiderman 2 very much, and that was without seeing Spiderman 1. It has action, good special effects, humor, some romance, and some suspense (my female friend grabbed my arm several times). If you like the superhero genre, this is definately a worthwhile film.

Troy was OK. It had a few nice effects, reflected a number of elements within the ancient Greek culture, had much emotions, and made the story appear like it could have happened. Although my female friend tremendously enjoyed Spiderman 2, she likes Troy even more (because of the emotions) and has seen it twice. I think they could have done a better job. It is inspired by Homer's Iliad. However, they did not follow the story completely. They changed many things and made a 10 year war seem like a month. It would have been a fantastic story if it followed the Iliad more, with Amazons and many Greek heroes participating, and many different attempts at entering Troy.

I have mixed emotions with Harry Potter 3. I always have problems with stories dealing with time travel because anything can happen and be changed. The story does a better job at handling it than most stories, but you can still go back and say, "why didn't they do that in the previous stories?" The effects were good and, as the others said, the hippogriff graphics were spectacular. (The graphic artists definitely studied movements of birds in detail.) I disagree with comments that the new director made this film darker. It had to be darker because of the story, not because of a director choice. So I am glad I saw the film, but the time travel factor makes me like Harry Potter 1 more.

Don't worry, Troy, I haven't seen ANY of the Lord of the Rings movies. I just got through the first book (I'm reading them before I see the movies). Wolfie is slow.

I saw dodgeball too. I couldn't sleep that night because of that clip after the credits, though. O_o
I have no signature. ;)

This week I saw King Arthur. My friend did not like it. I liked it slightly more than the Troy film, but I'm probably the only one in the world. Except for names and symbols, it has nothing to do with the King Arthur legends. It is a new story involving a single King Arthur mission. It shows some of the elements in late Roman, middle Britain, and late Saxon cultures. Some (but not all) of the camera angles were interesting. I especially liked some of the battle strategies that were used (although the defensive strategies have some inaccuracies). This film was too formula. Since current film formulas call for strong women, this movie has it, even when it goes against the known cultures. When the film formula calls for the zoom into hero's eyes, the film does it. The film does not have the emotions that Troy had.

I think that it is especially interesting that the Iliad is very close to the current film formulas but Troy did not follow it. Whereas the King Arthur legends are not close to current film formulas but King Arthur followed the formula. Do those filmmakers actually know what they are doing?

Of the films this year, Spiderman 2 is still my favorite, by far. (For my friend, it is still Troy.)

I saw Spiderman 2 today. After watching that cruddy Van Hellsing movie one week ago, i thought that it couldn't get worse....
Well...it was ok. The whole movie would be better if they would have stayed at least a bit close to the comicbooks. The story is kinda boring, and the movie suffers from the ''modern-movie-syndrome"...way to much special effects, but lame characters and story. BTW, Spiderman 3 is going to be about The Lizard...i hope, if there'll be a 4th one, it will feature Venom and/or Carnage...
