A fact is a simple statement that everyone believes. It is innocent, unless found guilty. A hypothesis is a novel suggestion that no one wants to believe. It is guilty, until found effective.
Edward Teller (1908 - 2003)
The only scene I've seen from Ben Hur was the chariot race. And that scene remains one of my all-time favorite scenes. And as much as I enjoy Titanic(yeah yeah yeah, I know I'm one of the few guys in the world who actually enjoyed that movie) ROTK is way better than Titanic.

hey Titanic had some really cool special effects; when i saw it in a theater with an amazing THX sound system and the water is coming in the boat and the hull begins to rip...
i do tend to wonder if ROTK won everything just because it was ROTK...
yes, it is a great movie and all, but i wonder sometimes if the academy voters saw "LOTR:ROTK" on the ballot and just checked it because they knew it best...
that being said I think Peter Jackson deserved his award, much in the way the Academy awarded Eastwood in 92 for Unforgiven, it means more than just the actual movie, but it reflects a body of work (the whole LOTR trilogy)

All your base are belong to us.
I can't deny that the SFX were awesome in Titanic....but they ruined the whole aspect of the true story of the R.M.S. Titanic. I wrote a 24 page research paper on the true story of the event....no love story at all in it.
But that's just my humble opinion and now I will go rent Ben-Hur and see that movie for myself.
As for ROTK 'deserving' the awards they did....i think they did deserve them....as you have noticed they got nothing for thier achievement for FOTR or TTT....I think it was a great achievement for them and i'm glad that PJ, the cast, and the crew got honored on Sunday.

Good news for LOTR and especially ROTK fans. The ROTK DVD is expected to be released in late May on the 25th instead of the usual August release like with the first two films. So we won't have too long to wait before owning the final piece of an incredible trilogy.
