Tsunami Appeal

Like many of you,I awoke,stunned, on the 26th of December,at the scale of the Tsunami Disaster.The sheer loss of life & damage to property by a force of Nature is indeed humbling & it is gratifying to see the global community pulling together.However,more money is needed to help.

This is extremely important,please contribute;

This is not a bunch of politicians at Westminster or on Capitol Hill allocating money you've already paid in your taxes;this is ordinary people digging into their pockets,giving what they can.It doesn't matter if you're a Christian,a Jew,a Hindu,a Moslem,a Buddhist;it matters if you are a human.

This is not about the First World helping the Third World;there is only one World;let those of us who have been unaffected by this force of Nature,those of us who have not lost loved ones,livelihoods,house & home reach out however we can to help those in need.

You can't afford ten dollars,you can't afford five pounds;well,even one cent or five pence will help.Give what you can.

We have set up a donation page over at Zoo Tek,the link is below & if you have a credit card account or a pay pal account then you can make your contribution there.If you have already made your own contribution by other means then I thank you as one human to another from the very bottom of my heart.

We also have a corporate sponsor who has agreed to match the donations received from the Zoo Tycoon Community via our donations page by the end of this week so if you havent contributed another way please do so via the link provided.

That's great that there is a matching donor.

It's so nice to see the outpouring of support from everyone in the wake of that tragedy.

It's so nice to see people helping, Liekf rom everywhere! When I first saw it on the news, it said 2000 gone, I didnt think much of it, but then when it got to aroudn 50,000 people. I started to think, Thats a alful lot of people. And I think its standign at 150,000, And I hope it stays there. I send my best wishes out to anybody who has family out there!

Our school are doing alot for it, In drama, We are doing scenes for it. We hopefully doing non-schookl uniform etc. Which all goes to good use. Again, God Bless all who was in it and whos families were in teh disater.

I'm along the same lines as Meltos. When it first happened I thought nothing of it, but then watched in horror as the death toll climed to 150,000...I hope it doesn't get much higher...

Just a warning to everyone to be careful of where you are sending your donations. I received an e-mail asking for donations with with "pictures" of the tsunami but it was actually a flooded river in China. So just use your common sense and research websites if you plan on donating. A legitimate fund-raising effort wouldn't think twice about letting you donate directly to a trusted charity in their honor.

It is sickening when you hear about people trying to take advantage of this situation.

yep, always donate to registred organisations like red cross or unicef...
you would be stunned to see al those people trying to take advantage of it.

Definitely. The tsunami was a very terrible event and shows just how powerful nature really is and how defenceless we are against it. It's great that the world is uniting to try and help those in need though!

I dunno if it's just me but there seems to be a lot of natural disasters happening recently. Some say that it's global warming but, whatever the cause, it seems that planet Earth is trying to get her own back on those who have abused her.

I can't donate online as my parents won't let me (even for something like this), but I have and will donate money through other means, so I'm glad I could contribute.

I though you'd like an update on how the appeal is going;

We got one last donation today before the funds were sent over to be matched, so the total amount we collected was $358.99! This means that with the matching funds, together we helped disaster relief organizations to the tune of $717.98!!

I am so proud of all of you for making this effort a success, give yourselves a pat on the back and know in your hearts that you have made a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.

The donation site will remain up for donations until Jan.31 and I will continue to update the total on the site. The only difference now is that any funds donated will go directly to The Red Cross and funds will no longer be matched.

There is still time to donate if you wish to,the link will take you over.

It would be grand to donate a grand!

I would love to donate, but alas, I can't, parents won't let me. But, I did lose two friends in the disaster. I pray for their families, and for those that also lost loved ones.

It's gratifying to see that people care in this troubled world that we live in. Human kind often think of themselves first, but there are the few who take the time to watch and listen to the horors that go on in other parts of our planet.

I like to think of myself as one of them, but I don't often get the chance to make a difference. My parents sent in a donation for all of my family, I hope that we were able to help, even in some small way!
