Hi.
I am using the downloaded cc version.
As i explained earlier - im having trouble with the tapairs. nervous.gif
I have done a complete uninstall (inc folder), and reinstall, only have
official downloads and the new unlock from zoo admin.
I redid - almost to the tee - a rainforest zoo i had trouble with before
the uninstall.
Everything went great, i finished off almost the entire zoo - the last
animals to be put in were the tapairs, (x3). Straight away , i notice my
screen gets a bit jerky then, as soon as im almost finished off placing
their trees, rocks and shelter - the game crashes. hmm.gif
I read the notes on what .dll files i should have for the cc and have
found this;
I 'dont' have a lang300.dll - i have a 301.dll - i am hoping this is
because of the missing files in the downloaded version of cc.
i know i could just not use them - but they are so cute. razz.gif
I also have the asian_elephant01.ztd (394KB), file, which never becomes
available to use.
(which i believe came with MM as i didnt download it. Unless its the
gold statue of course).
Im sorry if im asking something thats here already - ive tried to find
what im after. sadeyes.gif

Hopefully someone else has downloaded the Endangered Species Pack
(either with or without the Komodo Dragon), has tested the tapir, and
will post if those tests were successful or not. I have not tested it yet.
Let us assume for now that the tapir works. Did you try starting the
Basic Grass Map (Small) freeform game and, before doing anything else,
put in only a tapir exhibit ? This would rule out things like not enough
memory. If you still have problems, try it without the Zoo Admin unlock.
As for the dll files, there are three different ones depending on what a
person has. A person with the Complete Collection (CC) CD would have
lang300.dll. A person who downloaded the Endangered Species Pack from
Microsoft before they added the Komodo Dragon (or who downloaded from
Zoo Admin) would have lang301.dll. A person who downloaded the
Endangered Species Pack from Microsoft after the Komodo Dragon was added
would have lang302.dll. (Zoo Admin used lang019.dll for the Komodo
Dragon.) So you should be fine with lang301.dll.
asian_elephant01.ztd comes with Marine Mania (MM). On the MM CD, it is
called asian__1.ztd, which MM renames to asian_elephant01.ztd as it puts
it into the Updates folder. However, that is not the full Asian
Elephant. It only contains tank graphics for the Asian Elephant. You
still need the Asian_Elephant.ztd download from Microsoft. (Notice that
the names are similar, but different.) Once you have the
Asian_Elephant.ztd, the Asian Elephant will show up at the start of any
freeform game. I do not know when it would show up for scenario games
since I don't play the scenario games.

i have downloaded CC and there are no problems I've had with them and I
use freeform unlock from ZA

i did my zoo on the med river map. Will now do as you said about the
grass map and just tapairs.
Will give a result when im done.
thanks for the other tips also.
i have a theory???? - my nortons internet security is up for renewal in
jan and although i disable the program when playing zty - cc, from the
tool bar, its popping up now and then about the expiry date - maybe a
coincenence i just put tapairs in at the same time??? - lol - damn thing.

Ok, i used a small grass map , built just 1 cage and put the tapairs in.
(3 like in the other game).
At once i noticed the screen getting kinda 'jerky' and when i was
switching between the rocks, foliage, terrain tabs, ect ect, the screen
froze - for just a second, before switching to what i'd selected. but
the game didnt crash as such.
this was with the unlock still in, am going to try it now without it.

It is not unusual for the game to be jerky and freeze while a menu is
loading. The larger the menu, the longer the freeze will occur. It is
also more common with slower machines or machines with lower amounts of
memory. There are two types of memory. There is actual unused memory and
there is virtual memory where the hard disk is used as memory. If either
of these is low, Zoo Tycoon will have problems and will crash if they
are too low. There are ways to tell how much of each type of memory you
have, but these methods vary, depending on the version of Windows that
is used. You can change how much of the disk is used as memory and,
sometimes, you can affect how much memory is unused by preventing other
things from running at the same time.

Sometimes - maybe once a month, if that - i get a message about windows
running out of virtual memory. (i'm on xp pro). Though it hasnt happened
for a while.
Hmmn , i guess i have to buy some more memory/ram what ever its called?
(got 256)
As you probably can tell.....i wouldnt have a clue how to adjust -

When I installed Marine Mania, I did not have that error show up. So,
unfortunately, I cannot give specific advice. I can only give general
advice, which you probably already did:
Before reinstalling, uninstall Zoo Tycoon, delete the Zoo Tycoon folder
if it is still there, reinstall Zoo Tycoon, edit the zoo.ini according
to the Microsoft site so that Movies are not played, and then try
installing Marine Mania. If a problem still occurs try going to the
Ligos web site or contacting Microsoft's technical support.
I'm sorry that I can't give more specific help. Unfortunately there are
too many combinations of things out there. I can only play Zoo Tycoon on
my computer (and not Marine Mania). I have access to another computer,
though, that lets me do some Marine Mania testing. I did not have any
installation problems on that computer.

cry2.gif sad.gif help please!!! I cant put guests in animal tanks it
says"this animal dosn't swim in a tank and needs to be put in a land
exhibit" also when I put them in an empty tank and try to fill it up it
says "before you cann fill the tank you nedd to sell of remove some
items hmm.gif it's weird is there a special method to doing this? Or is
my game screwed up?

The ZT_Guest_Animal download is configured as an animal like a kangaroo
or giraffe. Zoo Tycoon knows that these animals are not allowed in tanks
or water and will not let you put them there. With Marine Mania, you can
pick up a regular guest, one that is walking around the zoo outside of
exhibits. But I have not tried to place these regular guests in tanks. I
have seen posts where others have.

if you are running the complete versions of ZT, DD, MM and what have
you, and you cannot place guests into a tank (NOT a show tank) then it
may be some hack you have installed, or file you have modified... what
all hacks do you have in your updates folder?
oooh and which patch do you have?

i have the full versions of (yes bought and everything..)

i havent modifyed any files
the hacks i have that i can think of are:
african exhibit pack(zoo admin)
poo cleanup hack(zoo admin)
unlocker(zoo admin)
blood hack(zoo admin)
fences forever(zoo admin)
and alot of the other hacks off zoo admin

ok heres a DETAILED description of what happens....
ok i made a tank exhibit with 2 sperm whales in it.
tries to put a guest in (adult male) and it said"this animal doent swim
in tanks and needs a land exhibit"
so i took off a tank side put the man in the incoplete tank and tried
againit said
"the man needs to be removed before you can fill the tank"
so i pick up the guy finish the tank and right click(to put him back
in)and he just stood at the bottom of the tank.
a sperm whale came down to the bottom of the tank turned intoa LION
(like user created animals do and shook the man around and he dissappeared.
Its really weird erm.gif

Okay, this is what happens. I want to work on my zoo. I click on
"Continue Saved Game" It says file not found. I double click on it, it
doesn't open. I start a new zoo, it crashes. I tried clearing up
downloads I suspect could do something, but nothing works! Help meeeeee!

what have you recently done? install a new version of zoo tycoon at all?
when i installed DD.. or when i installed MM my old saved games became
corrupt.
or;
is this on any occasion when you try to randomly save a new game?

what ZT are you running? (zt? mm? cc?)
windows version (98? XP?)
do you have a hammer ready?

I have MM and an XP, and it worked fine last week. I don't have a
hammer, but I do have a Trigun manga (Which is very thick and heavy)

What has changed (either with Marine Mania or with user created items or
with your computer) since you last saw Marine Mania work ?
Also, is there a separate Administrator account or different user logins
on your XP computer ?

The safest solution might be to save zoo.ini somewhere, uninstall Marine
Mania and ZooTycoon, remove the Zoo Tycoon folder if it is still there,
install Zoo Tycoon and Marine Mania, and test before adding any user
created items.
I asked about the different logins because some others have had problems
where they accidentally downloaded as a different user without knowing
it and then ended up having problems using Zoo Tycoon.
Also, your symptoms are very similar to what happens when there are too
many ztd files. In that case, nothing happens when loading an existing
zoo and the game crashes when starting a new zoo. However, with that
problem, usually nothing happens when trying "Continue Saved Game"
(instead of a "file not found" type of error).
Corrupted ztd or dll files might also cause those types of problems.

Hi!!!! I resolved the issue of the Complete Collection.
I had to reformat the computer and when I reinstalled the game with all
the Expansion Packs it works real good now. Thanks for all the help.

downloaded them from some other website? unless complete collection came
with them, i have yet to see them.

tycoon, or any expansion pack. - they are user created items.

Hi everyone. I am new on here. Names J and I am glad to meet you all.
Ok I need some help here. I just got finished about 30 mins ago
downloading the Endangered Species Theme Pack from zootycoon.com for my
little sister. She is a big fan of the game and so am I. I saved the
file to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon\Updates. Anyway...I
waited over 4 hours to download because I have a 56k modem. So when it
finished, I extracted all the files from the zip thing and launched
zootycoon. I do have marine mania and dino digs by the way. When it
finished loading, I went to the "get new updates" button and looked for
the files I just downloaded..found it in C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Games\Zoo Tycoon\Updates and clicked on animalsa.ztd. When the box came
up asking if I wanted to restart zootycoon, I said yes and waited for it
to come back to the main screen. When it finished, I made a new game and
check to see if I got the new animals and I did not any of them...I
tried it another 3 times with no luck.
Please help because this is really frustrating that I waited 4 straight
hours for this and It didnt work.

Welcome to the Lounge.
After you extract the zip file, you should have the following files:
config5.ztd, items8.ztd, guests7.ztd, researm.ztd, animalsa.ztd,
global07.ztd, object07.ztd, scenery8.ztd, scenari8.ztd
scn41.zoo, scn43.zoo, scn44.zoo
You will also have either a lang301.dll or lang302.dll file. (The
lang302.dll includes information for the Komodo Dragon.)
Rather than use the "get new updates" feature from within Zoo Tycoon, it
is safer and more efficient to put the files where they belong yourself.
Put the files that end with ".ztd" into the Zoo Tycoon Updates folder.
Put files that end with ".zoo" into the Zoo Tycoon maps folder. Put
files that end with ".dll" into the Zoo Tycoon folder. If these files
are not in the correct place, things will not show up inside the game.
Also, I do not know how long it will take for things to show in the
game. I have not tested this pack yet to know if they show up
immediately after starting a freeform map or if a freeform unlock is
needed.

Ok I put all the .ztd files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo
Tycoon\Updates\zootycoon_ESTP, all the .zoo files in the maps folder and
I only got lang301.dll so I guess I wont be getting the komodo dragon
and I placed that one in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon.
Still not working.... sadeyes.gif

The .ztd files should go in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo
Tycoon\Updates instead of in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo
Tycoon\Updates\zootycoon_ESTP.
If you would like the Komodo Dragon, instead of downloading everything
from Microsoft again, you can get just the Komodo Dragon at the Zoo
Admin web site: http://zoo.ogresnet.com . Click on "Packs" on the left
side of the screen. Then click on "CC Bonus Content". Then click on
"Komodo Dragon". Then click on "Download File". The zip file contains
two files: Komodo.ztd, which will go in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Games\Zoo Tycoon\Updates folder, and lang019.dll, which will go in your
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon folder. (When Microsoft
added the Komodo Dragon to their download, they added lang019.dll to
lang301.dll and changed the name to lang302.dll. It is OK to have both
lang301.dll and lang019.dll instead of lang302.dll.)

just off to the side a bit here, but in the cc download, i noticed that
i did not get ANY of the artic themed buildings/rocks/anything and very
few of the asian items. did M$ decide to be Scrooge this year, or are
they planning to release it later? or have i been sadly, sadly
misinformed and there is no such thing as cc and dogs walk people while
talking on cell phones?

Searain mentions in the "Complete Collection Issues" topic near the top
of Technical Support that the Endangered Species Pack download does not
include the Snowbell Tree, Arctic Theme Items, or Japanese Theme Items.
Noone knows if MS will add any of these to their download section. (Of
course, people are hoping they will.)

Welcome to the lounge.
They might not show up if you only have the demo version of Zoo Tycoon.
Otherwise, in the freeform games, the Rainforest Fern, Rainforest Bush,
and Umbrella Thorn Tree should appear right away. The others come later.
The Water Reed and Thorn Bush appear after 3 game months. The Pine Bush,
Palm Tree, Broadleaf Bush, and Spruce Tree appear after 6 game months.
The Pine Tree, Weeping Willow Tree, Sage Bush, Himalayan Pine Tree, and
Water Lily appear after 9 game months. The Eucalyptus Tree, Himalayan
Birch Tree, Ulmo Tree, and Elephant Ear Tree appear after 12 game
months. The Acacia Caffra Tree has to be researched.
Instead of waiting a number of game months, a number of us like to use a
freeform unlock. Freeform unlocks can be found in the Hacks download
section of the Zoo Admin web site, http://zoo.ogresnet.com .

Are you playing a freeform game? If you are, not all items are available
right away. I believe all those trees/bushes exist in the game.

I have all 3 expanion packs. My 1st question is I have downloaded the
Asian elephant and Magnet the polar bear and they both work great EXCEPT
they are not able to swim in the MM tanks what do I need to do? My 2nd
quest i downloaded the bongo and it is not showing up in the game what
can be the problem? My 3rd question is there is a basket of flowers I
think that has poped up in the objects section in the game it has a
price but it has no name, Why?

1st answer) You may have placed the Asian_Elephant .ztd and magnet.ztd
downloads in the wrong folder. I believe they should be in the Zoo
Tycoon Updates folder. In that folder, Marine Mania puts two other files
(asian_elephant01.ztd and magnet01.ztd) that contain the information for
the tanks. If Zoo Tycoon finds the downloads before it finds these two
other files, Zoo Tycoon will not find the information it needs for tanks.
2nd answer) The bongo.ztd download should be in the Zoo Tycoon Updates
folder. If it is in the wrong place, it will not show up. If you are
playing a scenario, the bongo might not show up right away. If you are
playing a freeform map and the download is in the correct location, the
3rd answer) Maybe the basket of flowers is from a pack you downloaded
from the Microsoft download site. If so, the pack also came with a
".dll" type of file. The ".dll" file must be in the Zoo Tycoon folder in
order for a name to appear. If you downloaded user created items, it is
also possible there is a conflict between the basket of flowers and
something else.

question when you make a show tank the diving board sometimes gets
between them and I can't remember how to move them. Thanks Merry

When you're in the fence/tank sides menu, there is a button you can push
that allows you to select where the gate or diving board goes. It's
right under the thumbnail pictures of the fences. smile1.gif
