Hi there,
I have recently installed Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection and the second
original CD seems to be damaged in some way. Instead of sending it back
to MS or returning it to the seller I'd first like to ask whether
someone would be so kind as to send me the file "ui4.ztd". It should be
in /Data/Mania/Zupdate1/ on the Update CD or in /Zupdate1/ in the game
installation folder.
It's only that small file that cannot be read and it seems that it is
crucial for running the Marine Mania update. Dinosaur Digs runs
perfectly. In Marine Mania I cannot choose to view MM items only and I
can't see the dialog panel for show tricks, i.e.
Your help would be highly appreciated!

I have recently discovered that if you have ZTCC, that the freeform
unlock does not work on the Nocturnal House and it still must be
researched to be available. I went through re-install, system restore
and deleting dls before I decided to just try and research without the
unlock and see what happens. It was the last animal building to come up.
I plan on putting the unlock back in the game now that I know what is
going on. I hope this helps someone else as if I had known this, I would
have saved myself a lot of time.

Absolutely correct, Zoogrammy - I discussed this with Loewenfrau who
updated the freeform unlock for MM and we decided that for just one item
it seemed a bit like overkill to reissue the whole thing.
However, having played CC for a little while now I've decided that the
Nocturnal House is just too good to have to wait so I will be updating
the unlock in the next few days
.As for researchable items, they are made available at the very start of
a freeform game but if you exit and reload then you will have to
complete the research in order to add more of that item. There is a
possible workaround for this but it would mean reprogramming all the
freeforms! 8O

freeform zoos.

Sorry, forgot to post that the CC update for the Freeform Unlockis now available from Zoo Admin <http://zoo.ogresnet.com>.
Another couple of updates I've done recently are the Tour Guide Makeover
(makes Tour Guides appear to be animals as they wander through your zoo)
and more recently the Swimming Rainforest Tree Update (requested by ZA
Forum Members) which makes all the Rainforest Trees placeable on water!
This was only submitted yesterday so it may not be up for a couple of
days. Anything else I put up I usually advertise in the PEZT Site Ad so
that would be a good place to keep an eye on

I've saved the ztd file into my updates folder no problem, it overwrote
the old one.
When I next open ZT:CC do I need to check "updates locally" and reimport
the file or just do nothing and carry on as normal?

Greetings,
I am new to this site, I need to find out what freeform unlock is ? also
I am wondering if there may be a problem with some of the download
animals because when I installed the updates it caused my windows xp to
close and want to send error reports? I have other downloaded user
animals installed from this site and zoo admin with no problems.
Please advise

first off, welcome!
the freeform unlock is a hack that allows you to purchase any
object/animal/building from the start. you can find it here
<http://www.hemsida.net/ztdesign/>. go to the hacks section.
some user created animals can cause games to crash, which is why many
people suggest installing one animal at a time. that way, if you game
crashes, you can find out which animal it was. my advice: remove all the
user created items you added recently (if not all of them) then add them
in again one by one. you should find the file that's been crashing your
game.
to uninstall quickly and easily, you go to your zoo tycoon folder under
C:/Program Files/microsoft games/. then, head to your updates folder.
there you'll find all your downloaded and installed
animals/objects/whatevers.

theminority21 gave very good advice. Here are a couple other comments.
I am assuming you are asking about problems with the Halloween animals
from here. I also noticed that you joined on Oct. 5. If you are using
Zoo Tycoon with a language other than English, there were some problems
with Halloween animals. These were fixed on Oct. 5 and announcements
were made in various sections related to the Halloween contest. If you
downloaded these animals on or before Oct. 5, please download them
again. If you still have problems with these animals, or have problems
with some other animal or object from here, please add a post to the
"Bug Reports for our downloads" section for the specific animal or
object that is causing the problem. Then we can take another look at it.
We want you and other Zoo Tycooners to have happy Zoo Tycooning
experiences. smile.gif

I have all 3 games. Go to the list of things I want from this siteand others. Download them into a file I made so I know where to find
them. Turn on game, go to check locally and click on all the files to be
added. They don't work. I've tried to download them throught the save
as, and put them right into the updates, then go to menu and do the
click locally and still nothing.
I use to be able to do this. Have installed, uninstalled until I'm not
sure if I'm here or not. May have uninstalled myself.
Anyone out there who can help an old lady like myself? If so please do.
Keep it really simple and easy.
Oh. I also haven't noticed any I need to unzip, yet all the files say
they are a zip file. I've changed the zip to a ztd and still no go.

There are two types of files from here. There are ztd files and zip
files. In either case, I would recommend downloading them into some
folder other than Zoo Tycoon or any of its folders. That way if
something happens during the download, it will not corrupt Zoo Tycoon.
Once they are downloaded, if you have winzip, you can run it and test
that the file was not corrupted during the download. But this step is
not necessary. (I like doing it for safety.)
For ztd files, you copy them as they are into the Updates folder within
the Zoo Tycoon folder. Then when you start the game, you do not have to
do anything else. They should just show up in the various
animal/foliage/zoo scenery/rocks/structures menus inside the game.
For zip files, you must extract what is in the zip files. If you right
click on the zip file, there should be an option to extract. Once the
extract is done, there will be ztd files to copy to the Updates folder.
Sometimes there will also be dll files to copy to the Zoo Tycoon folder.
Again, once you do these copies, you do not need to do anything else.
They will show up in the various menus inside the game.

I have a problem.
If i have any downloaded animals in my game(except the official)then no
guests come to my show,and if my animals are attacking guests(like great
white,they attack like a lion and then the guests dissappear).
Searain,can't you think of something?????(as long as i don't have to
change some files,the computer just crashed a few days ago and i must be
careful or my dad kills me)

heeeeey.. that lion issue:
uninstall zoo tycoon, and go back to cprogram filesmicrocosft games and
delete the zoo tycoon folder. reinstall. do NOT install any patches from
the MS site.
(reason for lion *bug* - MS released an *update* for zt, but it clashes
with the newer expansion packs.)

As far as I know, there is no way to change the game speed. You can
pause the game (and do many things while it is paused). You can also
change some options (such as blending and sound quality) to help Zoo
Tycoon run more efficiently on slower computers.

unsure.gif I got the files I wanted, thanks for the help, but some of
the squares in the game are blank. Like I have the giant sloth, but when
I put him into a habitat, he isn't there. Well, he is but you can't see him.
There are one or two more that are the same. As if something is there
but you can't see them.
There weren't any other files in the folder, and all were zip and
unzipped to make sure.

The Megatherium (giant sloth) is a download from Microsoft. It comes in
a zip file. Inside the zip file are two files: a ztd file that goes in
the Zoo Tycoon Updates folder and a dll file that goes in the Zoo Tycoon
folder. I'm assuming you did this. You said you had all three games, so
it should work for you.
When I search this Technical Support forum, I see that others reported
problems in February and April with the Megatherium being invisible in
their game. Unfortunately, noone left an answer. Maybe someone will post
an answer now. It is not invisible in my game. Since it works for many
people, I would suspect there must be an incompatibility between it and
some other download. If noone has an answer, you might have to live
without it.

So you never got to the main menu ? Do you have any user created
buildings ? Did you recently add any new downloads from anywhere ? Zoo
Tycoon has a limit of how many dll files it can load. If there are too
many, it stops before getting to the main menu. In that case, you have
to delete (or move) dll files in the Zoo Tycoon folder that are related
to user created buildings.

do you have any kind of ad-destroying programs like NoAds? some of those
programs target any window that opens up and has a certain name...
*shrug* i dunno. i had a problem with a program once and it turned out
to be NoAds shutting it down because of the name (i had put part of the
name as a wildcard title).

when was the last time it was working right? if its been way too far
then you can remember... or at least been 2 months since you have
launched the game, go ahead and uninstall the game, go back to c :
program filesmicrosoft games and delete the zoo tycoon folder... then go
ahead and reinstall. test out your game.

as Jay was saying.. there ARE limits to how many user created items you
can keep in the updates folder, AND there is a limit to the dll's you
can have in there. so be careful 8O

There is a limit for the number of "ztd" files. This limit is nearly
400. If you hit this limit, you would get to the Zoo Tycoon main menu,
but would not be able to start a zoo.
There is also a limit with the "lang" type of "dll" files. This limit is
63. Since this includes "dll" files from Zoo Tycoon, that would leave
even less that user items can use. Although there are "dll" files for
many things, the most common use is for buildings and not for animals.
So if you have many user created buildings, this would cause a problem
where you would not even get to the Zoo Tycoon main menu.
There could also be some file corruption problem. Sometimes this is
caused within the Zoo Tycoon folder. That is why Searain mentioned an
"uninstall, delete the zoo Tycoon folder, reinstall". Sometimes the
corruption comes from other things that were installed and have nothing
to do with Zoo Tycoon. These are more difficult to find and fix.

Hey there, remember me? Eh probably not.
Anyway, I DLed the new CC thing at the zoo tycoon site. I don't have a
big problem... but everything is showing up but the Komodo Dragon. I
tried everything I could do to my knowledge. If anyone knows how to fix
this, or has experienced this before and knows how to fix it, let me
know please.

Hmmm. That is just screwed. They said it came with it, it should be
there. I think they screwed up some where. Unless it was their intension
to have bad information prior to DLing the stuff.
It's crap.. crap I tell you. The only thing I wanted to mess with was
the Komodo Dragon.. How crappy is that?
And yes I have a freeform unlock. I tried everything I could,
researching everything.. waiting the whole ingame eight months or so..
still no dice. Figures eh?

Help me!
I have only installed the updates available from the game menu, so no
user created downloads. Still, my guests refuses to drink! Out of 500
guests, 120 is thirsty! I have put out benches and drink shops
everywhere but the guests just walks right passed them! (They are not
stuck in groups as I read they could be.)
They just walk and walk pass every chance for a drink and refuse to
drink! Have I done anything wrong? Does the shop have to be on top of a
road, or should it just be next to a road? If someone could give me some
guidelines, it would be much appriciated, THANKS!

if you have Marine Mainia then you need to get any official patches out
of there. (same if you have complete collection)
aside from being thirsty, are there a big number of hungry or tired folks?
restaurants are good to take care of any ailment, and visiting a
restaurant is much better then placing tons of food/drink stands
everywhere. less cleanup, and less costly!
but yeah- just like superlion mentioned- do you have plain Zoo Tycoon,
or do you have Dino Digs installed, Marine Mania installed or Complete
Collection? grin.gif

I agree the wise ones who posted before.... AFter I got Marine mania (my
Complete Collection is on it's way to me....) I did a clean install and
played for awhile with no user mades..... and I had the some
problem..... Guest were constantly thirsty, but they'd walk by a drink
stand and still keep whining about being thristy. So I stopped using
drink stands..... and just put in restaurants, the service more guests
at a time, in the long run they cost less money, and cause less mess -
Like searain said. Try a game with that plan and see if works better for
you.
And don't fear the user made stuff..... winkR.gif make sure you've got
the lastest patches.... and that objects are compatable with what you
have... and everything should be fine. There are alot of really awesome
user made things out there, and for me they add a new dimension to my
zoos, and make them much cooler. winkR.gif (and on the subjects of
restaurants..... dj_pluffs had a very good deepsea restaurant that was
really great at keeping the guest happy. I'm not sure about it's
compatability issues with CC yet though...)

Please help, I've tried everything. I downloaded the Bonus Content and
installed them, but only a few of the new items are available. The
Japanese Serow does not have a foliage associated with it. The Snowbell
Tree is not available. Sometimes it has savannah foliage associated with
it or rainforest foliage, which ever animal I click on last and then
click on the Serow, that animals foliage is now associated with it. I
let Zoo Tycoon update itself by checking locally. I think everythings
else is available except for a few other foliages. Please help me....

I have not looked at this bundle myself. According to various people at
Zoo Admin Forums, it does not include a file needed for the Komodo
Dragon to appear (even though it is listed in the announcement), does
not include Japanese theme items, does not include Arctic theme items,
and possibly might not have everything needed to run the new scenarios.
Zoo Admin has the Komodo Dragon available for download on their site.
But, for the other things, we would have to wait for Microsoft. Some
people speculate that Microsoft might put those other things out in
future downloads. Only Microsoft would know for sure.

wait Jay, are you saying that the komodo dragon still didn't appear even
in the new updated download. or are u still using the first version
microsoft posted. microsoft updated the file and added in the files
needed for the komodo. still no snowbell tree and no theme packs thou.
microsoft says they just goofed up with the komodo. they may have done
the same with the tree. thou i could understand if they left out the
packs (even if i really want them). mabe as packs later on or just as in
incetive for those that did buy CC.
i was also thinking someone could release a pack with all the objects
microsoft left out. i'm not very good with that kinda thing so i', not
sure how and if it could be done.

At the time of my previous post, MS had not updated their download yet.
They added the komodo dragon on Oct. 23.
As for users releasing things from CC that are "missing" in the
download... Though it is technically possible to do, I would not
recommend it without MS's permission. They have the copyright and can
choose to release or not release as they desire. Once they offer these
things for free download, than others can also offer them. The komodo
dragon was an exception because MS's announcement clearly stated that it
was supposed to be in the download. However, these other "missing" items
were not specifically mentioned as available.

some of the bonus and promotional content. but items have been released
before and microsoft has at times done nothing to stop them or possible
haven't even taken notice. might be a good idea to do so, and of course,

what you are asking zkl to do, is illegal, and sneaky.
zoo keepers lounge will NOT offer any bonus material for download that
is NOT offered on the Official website. I do recall a fellow zoo tycoon
site got in trouble by MS for offering Official items for download that
MS had NOT released for download. I am sorry, but this is NOT something
zkl will be doing in the present, or future.

us the ok. We have too much work invested in this site to be shut down
over something like that. It will not happen, unless someone buys the

Hi all. Remember me. Had a lot on lately, lost my zoo discs + other more
upsetting matters.. Can someone help please.
Ive just reinstalled MM. when ever I try to do the Orca show in the
scenario no visitors will come and watch the show.. even tried doing a
dolphin show, still no audience. Also my people are hungry, thirsty and
tired all the time, moaning so and so's
Could it be because i installed user created objects?
