Aliens Attack Arcade Game

Post by Jay »

Here is another object from Devona. This is the Aliens Attack Arcade Game that up to two guests at a time may play for fun or energy. Just like gift stands, the guests do not stand next to the arcade game. So they must be using infrared controllers. ;) Fortunately, this lets you see the game's screen better. (Configuration note: removes money.)

Here is a second Alien Attacks Arcade Game, also created by Devona. Other than having different graphics, its configuration is the same as the first Aliens Attack Arcade Game.

Instead of using a new dll file for the arcade games, the messages have been added to the combined ZKL dll file. Both arcade games are called Aliens Attack Arcade Game in ZT. That is done for efficiency and so that we do not use up IDs too soon. Because of this, you have to be careful when the purchase menu is open. If you have more than one thing in the purchase menu using the same name, and rotate the icons in the purchase menu or ZT does its check to see what new things should be made available, the selection highlight will move to the first one in the purchase menu with that name. So you need to make sure the one you selected is still selected when you are putting it in a zoo.

Because of saved zoos, there are 2 versions of the first arcade game, as of May 14, 2016. When the first arcade game was updated December 10, 2014, its internal name was changed accidentally. The internal name went from an upper case internal name to a lower case internal name, which ZT treats as being different. Both versions are being provided since some older zoos like the ZKL zoo use the upper case internal name version and some newer zoos might use the lower case internal name version. For new zoos, the lower case internal name version is slightly more efficient because there is 1 less file in the ".ztd". To differentiate the 2 versions, the upper case internal name version is in aliensArcadeGame.ztd and the lower case internal name version is in aliensArcadeGameWith1LessFile.ztd. Since ZT sees the 2 versions as being different, it does not hurt anything to have both in ZT at the same time, but it will be difficult to tell which is which in ZT, although the Zoo Object List program will show which internal name is used in a zoo.

first arcade game (upper case internal name version for older zoos) zip size: 37.7 KB (current ztd date: May 14, 2016)
first arcade game (lower case internal name version for newer zoos) zip size: 37.6 KB (current ztd date: December 10, 2014)
second arcade game zip size: 44.4 KB (current ztd date: December 10, 2014)

On January 3, 2015, a second Alien Attacks Arcade Game was added and the first Alien Attacks Arcade Game was updated to lower its purchase cost, to avoid it sometimes disappearing when the zoo is rotated, and to get around a problem that MM and CC have that can cause more in-game objects to be made available sooner than expected. The current ztd dates for both ztd files are December 10, 2014.
