Taipei, a city in the south of Taiwan, was heavily ravaged a couple of days ago. The cause: An exploding sperm whale. I'll save you the pictures. Now you'll wonder how and why? Apparently the gasses of decay had been piled up in the stomach of the dead animal. Now I wonder what a dead sperm whale would do in the middle of a city...

Considering the international whale protection laws, what was a dead whale doing in the city? Even the carcasses are under protection of the law. Only ones allowed near whales are scientists and even then they need permission.

As it appears, the whale was stranded and was to be transported to the university for students to research... Not illegaly, I believe. Imagine what would have happened if the beast had exploded inside a university...

Hmm, sperm whales do strand at the Dutch shores every now and then... Glad I don't live by the sea...
At least the term "Biological weapon" does get a whole new mening with this...

im not sure if anybody has heared of the comedian dave barry but my parents once went to see him and he told about this footage he saw where a whale had been laying dead on a beach for some time and to get rid of the city where it was stuck decided to blow it up on the footage it shows the whale then the explosion causes so much smoke that you cant see a thing but someone yells "O M G!" and then the tape cuts out when it comes back on it shows a car that was totalled when a piece of rotting whale larger than a refridgerator fell on it!

I've already heard of the exploding whale incident on the news. As soon as they showed a picture of the whole whale, and then showing everyone holding their noses, I could just imagine the smell being emitted from the whale. Ooooh... x_x

that kind of reminds me of "Guillam(sp?) le Conquerant" (William the Conquerer: French guy (Duke of Normandy to be spec.) who invaded England in uhh...ahh now i forget the date!
) but thats another story(funeral, exploding corpse, people running out of the church holding thier noses
what a way to go!)

Ah, you couldn't pay me a million bucks to be there when that happened! Just imagine the horrid stench. It's probably locked into the city now. So, whenever someone outside of town visits, they're hit with an immense smell so awful, they'll keel over... :S
