Many of these sites will accept charitable donations and others will have 'click-me' options to help out. Some may even have ideas of things you can do in your own community.

If you know of a site which we should add to this list, please PM me or the moderator of this section and we will review and post the appropriate link!

Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society
WDCS, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, is the world's most active charity (Registered No. 1014705) dedicated to the conservation and welfare of all whales, dolphins and porpoises (also known as cetaceans).

Established in 1987, WDCS is staffed by a small, dedicated team of people determined to do their best for the animals and proud of the fact that WDCS's operating costs are kept to a minimum. The money raised is spent on urgent conservation, research and education projects that really do make a difference to the daily lives and long-term security of thousands of whales, dolphins and porpoises around the world.

Animal Rescue Site
The Animal Rescue Site is an online activism site that gives Internet users the daily opportunity to quickly make a difference in the life of an abandoned or neglected animal awaiting adoption in a shelter or living in an animal sanctuary. In less than five seconds, visitors to The Animal Rescue Site can click on the "Feed an Animal in Need" button and, at no cost to them, provide at least one bowl of food. This bowl is paid for by The Animal Rescue Site's sponsors and distributed by our charity partners: The North Shore Animal League America (the world's largest pet adoption center) and The Fund For Animals, (one of the largest animal welfare organizations which operates several animal sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers including the famous Black Beauty Ranch).

Ways you can help:
the main site has a store which sells all sorts of items, including T-shirts, but a daily way to help the animals is by 'click-me' links below...

WAVA
WAVA has been involved in successfully removing fur products from one of the largest department stores in Australia; completely abolishing stray animals being sent to laboratories for animal experimentation in 4 prefectures and 1 state in Japan (Hiroshima, Yamagata, Hokkaido, Iwate and Fukushima); helping desexing of stray cats in Japan; campaigning against the torture of dogs and cats in South Korea; and exposing the practice of exporting Australian wildlife overseas to the media. We also aim to educate the public to choose cruelty-free products.

WAVA continually strives to eradicate inhumane practices against animals and educate people to establish a more compassionate attitude towards animals.

We affiliate and cooperate with animal protection groups in Australia, Japan, the U.S and other parts of the world. WAVA works closely with Japanese government authorities, frequently providing information and assistance in order to improve animal welfare.

Last Chance For Animals
Last Chance for Animals (LCA) recognizes that animals have the ability to experience pain, and as such they deserve certain basic rights protecting them from pain caused by humans. LCA believes that non-human animals should not be subjected to suffering and exploitation by humans because alternatives exist for nearly every traditional "usage" of animals. LCA's work advocates conscious and informed lifestyle decisions, and the organization is committed to disseminating truthful information about societal animal abuse to improve the treatment of animals.

LCA is particularly helpful because if you join the mailing list they e-mail you about the latest cruelty news and give you opportunities to sign petitions or e-mail certain groups to try and stop them. They also inform you if they have succeeded in stopping something.

Ways you can help:
this site offers a section to purchase merchandise or make donations, and several volunteering opportunities, as well as the e-mail alerts.

The Rainforest Site
a "sister" site to The Animal Rescue Site, The Rainforest Site is an online activism site that gives Internet users the daily opportunity to quickly make a difference in the fight to save rainforests around the world. Rainforest preservation is paid for by The Rainforest Site's sponsors and carried out by our land trust partners: The Nature Conservancy, The World Parks Endowment, The Friends of Calakmul and The Rainforest Conservation Fund.

We rely on rainforests in ways that we are only just beginning to understand. We do know that rainforests play a significant role in maintaining weather patterns and the Earth's limited supply of fresh water. We also know that natural elements and species from the rainforest are the basis of countless consumer, agricultural, medical, and industrial products. Although rainforests cover less than 2% of the Earth's surface, they are home to more than half of all plant and animal species.

According to The Nature Conservancy, originally, 8 million square miles of tropical rain forest encircled the planet. More than half has been burned, bulldozed and obliterated. Now, only 3.4 million square miles remain. If deforestation continues at current rates, scientists estimate that nearly all tropical rainforest ecosystems will be destroyed by the year 2030.

Defenders of Wildlife
Defenders of Wildlife is dedicated to the protection of all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities. They focus programs on what scientists consider two of the most serious environmental threats to the planet: the accelerating rate of extinction of species and the associated loss of biological diversity, and habitat alteration and destruction. Programs encourage protection of entire ecosystems and interconnected habitats while protecting predators that serve as indicator species for ecosystem health.

Ways you can help:
in addition to donations, memberships, and an online store, Defenders has several other options to help animals...

International Rhino Foundation
The mission of the International Rhino Foundation is to support and operate rhino conservation and research programs both in nature and in captivity with particular emphasis on intensive management and protection. The IRF is involved in both in situ (in nature) and ex situ (in captivity) programs, which IRF believes are both critical for the survival of the rhino. For its programs in nature, IRF concentrates on the species and subspecies most in need of, and most appropriate for, intensive protection and management. For its programs in captivity, IRF facilitates management and sponsors research with the ultimate objective of helping captive populations become truly viable and hence an integral part of conservation strategies for rhinos

Ways you can help:

Australian Platypus Conservancy
The Australian Platypus Conservancy is working to ensure that conservation of this unique mammal receives the attention that it deserves. At present, very few researchers are dedicated to studying platypus. Likewise, only very limited government resources are allocated to platypus conservation. The Australian Platypus Conservancy aims to increase the level of platypus research and develop long-term environmental action that will both protect existing platypus populations and revitalise degraded freshwater habitats, thereby encouraging platypus to re-establish in waterways where they have declined or disappeared.

APC believes that public support for conservation is best achieved through immediate experience. The labour-intensive nature of platypus research provides excellent opportunities for members of the public to contribute to wildlife conservation through hands-on involvement.

Ways you can help:
all of the volunteer research projects and hands-on explorations and sighting tours are located in Australia (naturally!) and help raise money for the research themselves, but for non-Aussies they do have a membership program where you can sign up for a quarterly newletter, get a free book and special chances to purchase platypus-related publications, posters, cards and other stuff.

Wild Dog Foundation
The Wild Dog Foundation is a project of the World Carnivore Society which is dedicated to all carnivores from weasels, cats and bears to hyenas and mongooses. The Wild Dog Foundation was formed with the intention of bringing notice to two greatly neglected carnivores. This will be done by education and with the hopes of raising funds for research projects. The Wild Dog of Africa (Lycaon Pictus) and the Dhole (Cuon Alpinus) of Asia are two forgotten carnivores in the popular world of conservation. The African Wild Dog is the most endangered carnivore in the world.

Organization goals include:
* Promote Wolf restoration to the Adirondack State Park in New York State and the Northeast.
* Support captive breeding of highly endangered canines such as African Wild Dogs, Ethiopian Wolves, Maned Wolves and Bush Dogs of South America, Red and Mexican Grey Wolves as well.
* Promote Coyotes as an important predator in nature.
* Promote conservation of the Dingo in Australia, foxes world-wide and jackals in the old world.
* Support field studies on African Wild Dogs, Dholes in Asia, South American Wild Dogs and reintroduction.

Ways you can help:
The Wild Dog Foundation encourages you to support research in the field, and send donations to help conserve natural habitat for our large pack hunting canines.
Support education for schools and the public to stop the prejudice toward our Wild Dogs.
