well not too much has been going on in this forum so I though I'd start a new topic and I haven't seen this one in a while
what kind of pets does everyone have?

I have:
2 cats-1 male Tiger and 1 female Stitch (my brother's cat)
5 leopard geckos-1 male King, 1 female Lightning, and their 3 unnamed offspring
2 green iguanas-1 female Sunny (just adopted from another family about a month ago) and a juvie without a name (that keeps escaping somehow!

I got it at the county fair from a friend and it has been nothing but trouble and if it keeps escaping from its warm cage on these cold nights it's probably going to die)
2 turtles-1 unkown peninsula cooter Cooter (original name huh?) and 1 unknown yellow bellied slider with no name
1 malaysian painted frog Picasso
and I also have a 55 gallon Amazon biotope aquarium with 6 cardinal tetras, 6 red-eyed tetras, and 6 corydoras paleatus catfish (aka peppered corys) and soon to be some 4-6 angels and 4 farlowella acus catfish (twig cats)

I have one betta at school!

My roommate agreed to take care of him over breaks because I can't take him home on the plane very well.

At home, I have:

a green-cheek conure, Harvey (quite the clown of a bird)
A cat, Bob (medium length hair, brown tabby and white)
My mom's dog, Walter (golden retriever with curly fur)
A pond (about 500 gallons) with shubunkin goldfish
2 10-gallon aquariums, with odessa barbs, and glass catfish and synodontis cats that will soon move into the
60 gallon aquarium which we will be converting from marine to freshwater because most the people in my family (ok all of us) prefer the appearance of a nice planted tank with lots of schooling fish and a few centerpiece fish to the marine tank with live rock and just a few fish.
One betta who has lived about three years under my care (and a little of my mom's)!
Annnd a 20-gallon aquarium with a breeding colony of Neolamprologus brichardi. My favorite fish ever

I have a Jack Russell Terrier called Max and I'm planning on getting a couple of goldfish for my birthday

I want more pets but my parents won't let me have any more

Two dogs (westie & a springer spaniel)
Two cats
A macaw #
A rose ringed parakeet
A senegal parrot
4 budgies
2 cockatiels
2 ferrets
2 gerbils
3 mice
4 rats
a hamster
two aquaria,I coldwater,1 tropical

Plus any sick or wounded animals the local kids bring me.(only a three legged frog at the moment)

I'm also feeding three hedgehogs & a tame fox in my back yard

my cat is only 7 but he has his favorite chair too he lays there at least a few hours every day and doesnt care if someone else is already there he just lays right on them or on the exposed parts of the chair (like the arms or little bits of the seat-even though hes a huge cat)

@raindragon: if you do get the goldfish, make sure you get them a large enough tank-one of the biggest misconceptions about goldfish is that they can live in bowls but normal goldfish can get 14" long and need at least 30 gallons of water (or 40 for 2) and the round fancy goldfish get about 8" and need at least 20 gallons per fish (or 30 for 2) so the biggest tank you can manage is ideal-just an FYI

@SL: i also have an empty 20 gallon and once i get the money i really want to set up a tang. tank with some brichardi and maybe some other small tang. cichlids from what ive read about yours they sound like really cool fish

Wow, you guys really have cool pets!

I just have a lhasa apso/poodle mix dog and two cats, both of which I found on the streets.

Well I only have one. A tabby cat called, Cosmo (I love that name, I named him

) We found him on the streets too sheila. They just through the poor cat out, so i saw him, fed him, and begged for my parents to keep him. And they said yes, A hole different story for a dog. I want a dog!

my cat i got from a lady whos cat had kittens but my brother found his cat and brought her home when she was only about 1 month old

Let me tell you something I had to tell just about every customer I had last summer

Be aware that goldfish become quite large and messy and require at least a 50-gallon aquarium or pond when they are full-grown. They can live over 20 years, but if kept in bowls or small aquaria, they become stunted, which shortens their lifespan (you don't want to hear what it does to their internal organs).

yeah i put a little about that in my previous post but the sizes i put are the absolute minimum 50 gallons or larger is a much better choice
i see people all the time buying "tank busters" at the fish store and it makes me so mad when people buy "a cute little clown loach for their 10 gallon aquarium" (when they really need a group of at least 3 or 4 but at least 10 would be better and would fit in say a 500 gallon pond) or a baby pleco or bala shark
so if you didnt plan on getting your goldfish this large of a tank you could always go with a nice little community in a 10 gallon aquarium (some good choices would be a few cory catfish and some small tetras (around 2" or so)) you would get much more enjoyment out of this than a goldfish in an inadequate tank that would live a very short sickly life

and now that i've hijacked my own thread: back to your regularly scheduled programming

Ack, and Okapi, a comment on the brichardis (I missed that post) it's ideal to have them in a species tank - if you have a pair they're notorious for taking over the whole tank and either stressing out or outright killing other fish that get in their way. The catfish I had with mine got by because he didn't mind swimming in places the brichardis didn't like to go. People have kept them successfully with other species, but usually in larger tanks. If they start to breed they get moody, but if you have a species tank you will not be disappointed with observing their behaviours. Heck, if you're successful with breeding them, send me some of your juveniles and I'll send you some of mine and expand the gene pool!

I have a:
29 gal. tank with an oscar cichlid and a pleco
5 gal. tank with a pictus catfish
a basset hound

Soon to come:
100 gal. tank for the oscar and pleco
4-6 angelfish for the 29 gal. and pictus catfish moved there
basset hound puppy to be born the 17th so we get her in december

I need to find something to keep in my 5 gal. tank though, but I'm not so keen on putting feeder fish in it to feed to the oscar cause I've heard it is very unhealthy
