We had a Sperm Whale beached near where I live in the UK,second in a year.
I went to take a look last weekend, shame to see such a magnificent creature dead on the beach.

This one was sixty feet long!

We have regular whale watching tours here, but I certainly wouldn't want to watch a whale do THAT!

But seriously, wouldn't you think that a professor would have known to expect that something like that was possible to happen? Do yuo think they should have taken precautions? Do they make zip-lok bags that big?

I've heard that whales tend to have gas build up in them after they die and that this one should have had the pressure relived by cutting it open or something... don't know how true that is, but it's certainly possible... a lot of things give off gases when they begin to decompose...
