Greetings from the midst of a feline frenzy. Aaagh! Cat claws in the leg. Knew I shouldn't have mixed so much catnip in with their breakfast...
Anyway, I'm new to the Lounge although I've been visiting as a guest for the last few days. Downloaded a lot of universal objects. Getting frustrated with my guests, though. They keep getting stuck on the benches even though I've removed ALL the user-created objects from the zoo. (Darn, that blue tree was soooo pretty!)
I actually found the Lounge while trying to find some recommendations for winning the Best Sea Lion and Best Dolphin Show awards. I covet those statues but can't seem to win them. Still don't know how although one of my Dolphin Shows was so popular it earned me $13k! Anyone have ideas?
Hoping to get to know the Lounge better. Got to run now! Have to make a birthday cake for my nephew (26).
Meow!

Welcome to the Lounge CatsMeowCentral!!! I agree with you, a house without a cat is only a house and nothing more. As for the show awards, we have an excellent strategy, tips, and tricks section. Look around in there and maybe someone knows the answers to your questions. Enjoy your time here at the Lounge!

Cool; another person my age here. Welcome to the Lounge! I was born in NJ, but haven't lived there since being a small boy.
When you say "stuck on benches", I believe you mean that they stay at the bench and do not move from it. This means you probably have a user created bench or table that was created for a different Zoo Tycoon version. I am aware of 6 from here: Chick-fil-a picnic table, Pizza hut bench, stone bench, garden bench, McDonald's table, and KFC table. These should be removed from your Updates or dlupdate folder. Just removing them from a zoo does not help; they must be removed from the Zoo Tycoon folders.
If by "stuck" you mean guests leave a bench but sit back down soon afterwards, that is a problem with the configuration of some restaurants. I am aware of this problem with the Applebees restaurant and Hardees stand, for example. But this occurs only if these are in the zoo and guests are allowed to use them.
For the statues, if you are only interested in getting them, I would recommend using a freeform unlock (such as those at Zoo Admin). That makes everything available at the start of a freeform game. You can also edit the zoo.ini file to unlock them. If you want to win them on your own, the seal statue is unlocked when you have a seal show that earns at least $5,000 in 1 year and the dolphin statue is unlocked when you have a dolphin show that earns at least $20,000 in 1 year. (The FAQS section here lists the requirements for all awards.) As phantom mentioned, the Strategies section gives suggestions for shows. Specifically, look at the MM Shows and the How To topics.
Enjoy your stay and have fun!

Thanks a lot, Jay and Phantom. I like the variety of restaurants. I was getting so bored with the 3 provided by the game designers. I'm using ZT CC. Does this make a difference with the restaurants? My guests sit down, attempt to stand and sit back down again. I finally downloaded the user-created decorative benches and removed all the working benches. Now at least I don't have poor guests crossing their legs and hopping up and down!

Poor things couldn't get to the rest rooms!
My game does crash periodically but I've learned to save... OFTEN.

It could be my computer. It's not the most powerful. My nephew is talking about giving me his fiance's (they're getting a new one) and hers is designed for major gaming. Maybe I won't crash as often. We can only pray.

I like the variety of restaurants, and other buildings, as well. It is good that you removed the functional versions of user created benches and tables from your Zoo Tycoon folders. I think all user created benches and tables can cause some type of problem with CC since they were created before CC was created.
But I misspoke about the Hardees and Applebees. They have problems, but not the one I mentioned. So I will give a little more detail about the 2 problems with some restaurants / food stands, plus a third problem concerning some old ".dll" files.
The first problem is when a restaurant or food stand sells both food and a gift that goes into a guest's inventory. Zoo Tycoon gets confused by such buildings. Sometimes it gives the gift to the guest as food. So then the guest goes to a bench or table to eat this food. The guest sits down, eats the gift, and stands back up. But since it was a gift, it did not turn into trash like food does. So the guest finds another bench or table (sometimes the same bench or table), sits down again, eats the gift, and stands back up. This continues forever. I have fixed buildings with this problem. I do not know if there are other buildings out there with this problem. If you find one, please let me know.
The second problem is when a restaurant or food stand sells both drinks and food that is not consumed immediately. Zoo Tycoon gets confused by such buildings as well. Sometimes it gives the food to the guest as a drink. Since food is not a drink, the guest's thirst does not go away. But since they have something in their possession that they bought as a drink, they will not buy any other drink. So they just go around the zoo getting thirstier and thirstier, and getting angrier and angrier. Zoo Tycoon eventually complains that there are too many thirsty guests in the zoo. This is the problem that Hardees and Applebees have. As I find time, I would like to fix these buildings.
As for crashes, it could be your computer. It could also be drivers (such as the video card driver). But it could also be some user created dll files. You should not use any user created ".dll" file that is bigger than 1.8 mb in size. Also, you should not run any "patch" program that creates or updates a ".dll" file. These types of ".dll" files are known to cause Zoo Tycoon to have sporadic crashes. The Hardees and Applebees packs (among others) have these problems as well.

I'm so sorry about the loss of Bunyn. You have my sympathies. Major computer problems here. Guess I installed something my computer didn't like. Had to uninstall ZT and all updates. Deleted folder. Computer kept crashing.

Finally resorted to deleting all ZT zip files which had anything to do with .dlls (bye-bye log flume!) and cleaning out the registry. Now up and in business again but first trying out a few animals and foliage. Already installed and uninstalled Megalodon (didn't like it at all, very disappointed). Got an online exam to do this weekend. Women's lit. Wish me luck!
