Hi everyone, I'm very new to the zoo tycoon game. I just ordered Complete Collection from Amazon.com a couple of days ago, and haven't even got it yet. I've been downloading animals right and left already though, because I know how I am with these kinds of games. I downloaded the demos, and I've been reading hints, tips, and cheats online, as well as what the animals like in thier exhibits.
Well, I mainly joined because I saw that this was a great download site. Between downloading and playing my game, I'm not sure how active I'll be posting.
Now, to give me a reason to look at my replies, everyone give me download links for objects and animals, lol.
Tycoonfully,
Lorelei

Welcome to the Lounge!
Besides downloads here, the "Zoo Tycoon Website Links" section contains a number of web sites with downloads. As for the downloads here, there are quite a number of great ones. Although it is difficult to pick out favorites, the 3 I favored for a community zoo were: Paint Horse (favorite animal download; real animal; has an extensive info; the male, female, and young show 3 of the colorations described in the info), Hot Air Balloon Ride (favorite object; I like the animation), Farm Animal Pack (favorite pack; many interesting, real animals).
If you have any questions as you play, feel free to ask.
Whether you decide to just download or to post, have fun!

[FONT=Arial] Wow Everyone, thanks for the warm welcome. I got my CC yesterday and WOW, it is soooo much fun. I discovered that if you have a demo of ZT you can load it into the full version game, that is really nice.
My guests always love my zoos, because I think of myself as a guest, and I wonder what I would like to see. I think I actually did download the Paint horse, and I have installed the farm animals, but haven't put them in any exhibits just yet. I'm working with the Large Vally map, and that will take up quite some time to fill. Of course, the first thing I did was put the compost building in the farthest corner, and I put a wall around it, too. I didn't completely enclose it, though... I left one fence tile open.
As soon as my guests come in, to the left I have a little golf course, then a restaurant, a swim with dolphins exhibit, and a couple of food stands and restrooms. Then the exhibits start. If the guests think you value them above all, they are really going to like their visit. I've already won a lot of awards for best exhibit, and best in customer service, or something like that... it had a blue ribbon, I remember that.
With the exhibits, I just keep checking the zookeeper recommendations, but I already notice a few things.
For animals like the African wild dogs, it takes waaaaay more animals than the zookeeper says before you need to start selling off animals. And the happier the animals are to start off with, the more quickly they breed. I was still building my second exhibit, and the gazelles in the first exhibit were already having babies! I have three exhibits now... the gazelles, the giant anteater, and the Pacific Walrus, and all the animals have babies. I also won an award for the design of my exhibit. That meant a lot to me, even though it's only a game, because I like for my animals in real life to be happy, too. I have a three-toed box turtle, and his happiness is a top priority for me.. though it's hard to tell when a turtle is happy... they don't exactly jump up and say 'WHOOPEEEE', lol. Anywaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy...
Thanks again for the warm welcome. I'll definitely be back to post from time to time, because as I learn new things, I'm sure I can pass on my knowledge to other newbies who are falling in love with this game, too.
What I really like about CC is that you get to own and take care of animals that you would never be allowed to own (or ever have the finances to take care of) in real life.
Sincerely,
Lorelei
