I'm off to the New Forest tomorrow for a few days and after that I'm going to Woburn Safari Park for a couple of days (staying at a Travelodge) so I probably won't be posting for about a week. ;)

Just an early warning, I'll be on today and then tomorrow I'm gone :P

Just a note to say I'm back and I really enjoyed myself ;) We went to Whipsnade Animal Park instead of Woburn but I think I preferred it there anyway :D

Welcome back, Raindragon.

What did you see and do at Whipsnade Animal Park? Why do you think you prefer it to Woburn? What about New Forest?

lol, well I'll tell ya what :P I made a large entry in my LiveJournal about it so you can read it here.

It's the first two entries and I went into detail on the New Forest there ;)

As for Whipsnade - woah, they had a lot of animals and seeing as they're conserving them that's a good thing :D They had an assortment of deer and antelope, big cats, some bears, insects, fish, large mammals such as elephants and giraffes, primates...too many to list really, hehe!

We got to watch a free-flying bird show and they had a bald eagle, toucan, lanner falcon and macaws. It was very entertaining and also educational. It was nice to see the trainers getting the birds to demonstrate what happens to them when they get smuggled out of the wild as there were many young children there who would benefit from it.

There was also a sealion show, which was pretty cool - I've never really seen real sealions before, let alone really close up! And seeing as I love marine life that was a plus :)

And as for why I preferred it to Woburn...Woburn was nice but it didn't have as many animals and the enclosures weren't as landscaped. They had sealions too but because the place got so overcrowded it was impossible to see them! Whipsnade was very spaced out so even if they had loads of visitors there was still a lot of space around the animal enclosures so you could see them quite easily. And I think Whipsnade was more about conservation, whereas Woburn was more about show. I could be wrong though...

Anyway, if you have any more questions feel free to ask lol ;)
