My fingers are killing me! Whenever I put in an aquatic animal, their suitability rating ALWAYS stays below max. I found that little coral rocks are the only thing that satifies them to t he full extent. With every placement of 30 :grumpy: or so rocks, one of any other larger or different rock in there must be removed, although the smilie faces continue even with them there. The keeper tips tell me that there are too many rocks wheather I delete the different ones or not.

(confusing, huh?)

This problem is killing my eyes and forefinger! @_@

Please, suggestions?

Im talkin' around 100 rocks per average sized tank. Thats a LOT more than what that site says, although thank you for showing me another ZT site.

I do not use tanks or MM very often. I mostly use the original ZT. I have seen that it has problems sometimes with rocks and sometimes even terrain where the animals in the exhibit give smilie faces, but the Zookeeper Recommendation says it is too much. It is the Recommendation that matters most. But even the Recommendation is not perfect and usually says the exhibit is suitable even when it could be done better. So that is where those guides come in handy. It sounds like in your case that you need to remove rocks to make the tank more suitable. Those guides also say which is the best foliage and rock to use for each animal. As it turns out, the Small Ocean Floor Rock is the best rock to always use in tanks. Those guides also mention "Other specifically liked items". These also increase the animal's happiness and the exhibit suitability. Some animals need a shelter, which is also mentioned in the guides. Tanks also need filters. But not all animals can get to 100% suitability. The guides say what to use to get as high as possible, but that might still be less than 100%.

OK, I'll try the guides.

This question must have confused everybody; what I meant was that the tons of rocks gave MAX suitability, along with preferred foliage. It is the keeper that says there are too much, yet it is what is needed and the animals love it. But I doubt it can be fixed easily, so I'll just deal with it.

I find it the opposit of Jay. I go by what the animal wants. In a n exihibit of more than one animal of the same type, some will want more, some less. Foliage is more important than rocks. Check the recs and it'll say 'needs more rocks to be happy', sometimmes if you get enoungh foliage, the needs rocks will disapper and if you put a rock in you'll get a frowny face. Also I almost never use small rocks. And since I have animmals having babies before I;m finshed building...
I have this theory that chocolate slows down the aging process.... It may not be true, but do I dare take the chance?

I think that would work better. I always tend to do the rocks first...

The suitability guides were drawn directly from the animals programing so they are right. Inside the UCA it states exactly what the animal requires to reach optimum suitability.

I think the problem is with trying to get the suitability to 100%. Like the polar bear with only 3 land squares left.

In my opinion, that's why in ZT2 they left out the suitability % and just put "good enough" so that we'd quit trying to be 100% perfect. After all, nature isn't 100% perfect.
