I Need Help With The Downloads
I tried to dowload some stuff to zoo tycoon cc and so i loaded the downloads(they were all animals)to my computer, then i went to zoo tycoon after extracting the files. Then i went to the check localy button and dowloaded the shadow beast animal and it had me restart zoo tycoon...But after the load screen it went black and said "zoo tycoon has encountered an error and needs to close".so i pressed dont send and it closed zoo tycoon.I tried to load the game again and it did the same thing. So i got rid of everything in zoo tycoon even the zoos
and it worked, but ZK lounge has some cool downloads and i don't want to lose my zoos again, what should i do??
The first thing to do is move all your ZKL dls to a temporary folder. I've dl'd several ZKL animals lately, and noticed that when I unzipped several of them, they were in folder form. If you're getting this, right-click on the folder that says "animals" and zip it up with the name of the animal - or, if you've accidentally added a bunch of animals into the same folder, name it ZKL Animals (or something like that), then change the extension from .zip to .ztd. It should now work in your zoo.
If the folders AREN'T the problem, then try adding one animal at a time to your ZT Updates (or dlupdate) folder, then start the game. If it works, add another animal and repeat until you get a crash. That way, you'll know exactly which animal is crashing your game and we can help you to fix whatever's wrong with it

Welcome to the Lounge.
Some downloads here are ".ztd" files and some downloads here are ".zip" files. The Shadowbeast is a ".ztd" type of file. If you go to its download page and move the mouse cursor over "Right click on link", the bottom of your browser shows the link. You will see that the link is .../Shadow.ZTD. So when it downloads, it is supposed to be Shadow.ZTD. Unfortunately, some browser versions do not download these correctly. Internet Explorer with Windows XP, for example, changes the name to Shadow.zip when it downloads it. You should always look at the link at the bottom of the browser before downloading something from here. If the link ends with ".ztd" or ".ZTD" and the Save box shows ".zip" when you try to download it, you should change its name from ".zip" to ".ztd" and not extract it. There is information on this in the Technical Support section here. If you do not have file extensions turned on for your MS Windows, you should turn them on. That will also allow you to see if something ends with ".zip" or ".ztd" and will allow changing the name more easily. For ".ztd" files, you do not extract them like you would for ".zip" files.
Also, do not use the "check locally" button inside Zoo Tycoon to load a download into the game. This causes many problems. In addition to the problem you had when the file is not correctly named, it also creates extra files that can cause problems if you try to remove the download from the game. You should always use the manual approach to load downloads into the game, which involves copying files instead. There is information on this in the Technical Support section here as well.
Good luck with your downloading and have fun Zoo Tycooning.

The topic "Okay I Downloaded It....now What?" gives steps for showing file extensions in Windows XP. Look at my posts for "Mar 6 2006" and "Mar 11 2006". The topic is: viewtopic.php?t=144
Once file extensions are showing, you can rename a file by clicking with the right mouse button on the file in Windows Explorer and clicking "Rename". Then change the end of the file name from ".ztd.zip" or ".zip" to ".ztd".
Good luck and have fun.
