the summer weather in my area (ohio and surrounding states) is insane it is sunny, cloudless, and sometimes very hot during the day with crazy storms almost everynight (at 1:30 moday morning the tree in front of our house blew down (the trunk is almost 3 ft across and the wind levelled it) this afternoon they were predicting possible tornados but so far the huge storms have missed us ( but there is lots of thunder and lightning the thunder has been rumbling for a really long time too (its usually a loud clap lasting about 2-3 seconds but its rumbling for over a min.) usually around august we get torential rain (sometimes its truly hard to stand up for long with the force of the rain) and its not uncommon to bewithout electricity for a couple days at a time i also live pretty near xenia that has legendary tornados like F5s (we rarly get f2s or 3s) the damage is just incredible i went through after the last big one so were settlin in for another season of rough weather

Last month or so we had a funnel cloud a few blocks away from where we live. It didn't touch down though. We had a few storms that had IN flooding everywhere. IL sure got hit, with powerful F4s and such. When we had those bad storms in my area, Fort Wayne had an F4 and F3 tornado. I don't like storms. Except when there's no warnings or watches. Then I'm good. lol

At work the other night a storm blew in and I was standing out in the parking lot.
It looked like the storm was circling the shop only. I ran in the shop and it let go!
It was raining sideways! Leaves blowin, derbis pilin up against the trucks, Sun went away! It dumped water for about a half an hour that way! When it slowed I went out to check my car and found I forgot to fully wind up my window! My seat had a Puddle in it, a PUDDLE! Window was only down maybe an inch!
St Louis weather is Very strange. I grew up in northwest PA. When I moved here in 1993 it flooded. I noticed the weather forecasts here are often 50% chance of rain. Thats like sayin "It might rain and then again, It might not" I made a habit of rolling up my window but I guess I had a 50% chance. See what I get for the optimism! A WET BUTT!

I live out here in Colorado and we are bone dry. If anyone has excess water, please send!

I can send some right over to you, phantom. Here in Nebraska we are getting hit again tonight with rain. Last Saturday we had a bad tornado hit and it wiped out an entire town not too far from here. It was rated an F4 on the Fujita scale.

Anyway it's too much rain too fast. I'll box some up and send it packing to you.

I just got done watching The Day After Tomorrow. I don't think I've ever seen that much water in my life! I'm not so sure you could even compare that much water with today's rainfall. No siree.

I live in Missouri (tornado alley) and last night there was a large series of tornadoes not twenty miles off. Luckily we only got the rain. Last year, we got a REALLY big one and it was only a block away from our house...It was hideously scary...

(It was kind of funny, though, since we had just washed our garage door that morning, and the tornado threw a ton of debris on it. Nature's out for revenge!!)

Kielo: I've been wanting to see that movie. Is it good? Would you reccomend it?

About the movie...

I saw it last night in a drive-in theater. It was really good. The movie involves the following weather disasters:

• Hailstones the size of grapefruit</li>
• Whirling Tornadoes</li>
• Monster Hurricanes</li>
• Colossal Typhoons</li>
• Bone-chilling blizzards</li>

Although I thought it would be better. But it's a very interesting movie. Really good sound effects.

I saw The Day After Tomorrow, as well. For anyone who cares, here's the review I wrote for it from my Livejournal:

So this movie was surprisingly fun. I'm not a fan of disaster movies as a general rule, but I have to admit this one was pretty entertaining. This movie contains the following:

Japanese people scream and run hither-thither ala Gozdilla movies--only this time it's football-sized hailstones that are destroying Tokyo.

A tornado sucks up the Hollywood sign.

New York gets iced, flooded, and iced some more.

All but two of the annoying people in the movie DIE in very amusing ways.

The heroes are all nerds. They break into a cargo tanker. Which is floating the middle of New York. On snow shoes (the heroes, not the tanker). In a minus 60 degree F snowstorm. While being chased by a pack hungry CG wolves. Who can jump 15 feet in a single bound!

Now come on. Tell me that isn't entertaining!

Oh, and by the way: Atlanta escapes destruction. Nyah, nyah!

Of course the plot was subpar. It was a disaster movie, so no one's expecting it to be very deep. Yeah, there was a bunch of whining about how we're destroying the environment and the US government sucks, and Oh My Gosh, no one's listening to the main tree-hugging protagonist, but this isn't a movie meant to be taken seriously. It's totally not believable, but it's not supposed to be. It's a popcorn flick, and the special effects are pretty impressive, and you get to see LA shredded by an army F5 tornados! So if you have an extra 4 bucks, go to a matinee showing, order some nachos and a coke, sit your butt down and just enjoy the show. Nice, fun, brainless movie for a rainy day.

Luna, if I had my brain with me yesterday, (or not), those would have been the exact same words I would have said. omg, great minds DO think alike.

I know that sort of thing couln't happen (at least I kid myself that) but when I was walking out of the cinema I was surprised to see that there was normal weather outside.

Weather update from Missouri: Rain, thunder, rain, rain, more rain, lightning, rain, rain, hail, rain, thunder, rain. Ineresting, isn't it?

well istill havent seen it yet but i think ill wait till its only $2.50 at our local theater it will be another month or so but at least its cheap

Not very many towns have drive-in theaters anymore. Mine is low admission, lucky me. I love drive-ins; just watch the movies in your own sealed, protective box on wheels... with air-conditioning...
