Is any one a member of FFA here? If you are or even if you arn't tell me what you think of the organazation.

Nope, but being at Purdue there are a lot of FFA people here (especially in the school of agriculture ) . There is a stone monument thing from the FFA in front of one of our buildings too. It's pretty cool. I might have been in it if I had grown up in the country. But I was unlucky enough to be a suburban gal. At least I got outdoors pretty often, just not really a farming community.

i live in a small city surrounded by farms and im in 4-H (a little like FFA) this will be my 9th year showing market hogs and in the next couple of years ill be in FFA (i dont have any room in my school schedule to take ag. this year or next but maybe junior year)

Unfortunately I'm not a member - I'm not even sure what the FFA is Could someone enlighten me please? :XP:

I should have clarified that in my post. FFA stands for Future Farmers of America.

Ahh, thanks Superlion. Well, seeing as I come from England I haven't heard of it and I'm not a member as I said. Still, it sounds like an interesting organization - it's a nice idea to keep up farming

It's actually now called the national ffa oganazation. yes ffa stands for future farmers of america but, that was changed to support all of agriculture. The Future farmers of America isn't really part of the name anymore. So it is called the National FFA Organazation. confusing huh.

I was in FFA when I was in high-school. I showed market hogs also. We raise show pigs (Hamps, Yorks, Durocs, and Crosses) and Southdown showlambs. I have the cutest picture of my 3-year-old daughter touching noses with her bottle lamb.

occasionally my cousins have bred hogs (mostly mixes) and some times i buy mine from local breeders or breeders at auctions most years mine have been hamps but ive also had many blue-butts (white with bluish-gray spots around the ham area) and this year mine's all white but i dont know if its a pure-bred or a mix

We raise show lambs. I'm in FFA thats why I started this Post. I get to go and compete in State Contests this weekend because I did good enough in district contest. I'm competeing in Crops, Horse Judging, and Poultry wish me luck.

Nah, I'm a city folk. And I don't have the southern accent either. Nothing wrong with that, just clarifying it. I have quite a few friends who work and live on farms.

i live right near the town square(and i dont have an accent either except when i singcountry ) but a few years ago my cousins moved right outside of town so i keep hogs out there
