A couple of weeks ago, I came across a site with games for the Commodore 64. One game, created in the 1980s by an unknown author, was called "Everyone's a Wally". I downloaded it and recently tried it.

The game is a graphical adventure type game. But the graphics aren't good, even for games from that time... barely more than stick figures. There wasn't instructions, but it seems the game is something like the following. There is a gang of people headed by Wally. They have to find various objects throughout the city and gather "loot" points while avoiding various obstacles. Each member has 3 lives and an endurance bar. You can switch from one member to another, but only if they are in the same location. Eventually, supposedly you can find a safe and crack it open to win. The city even has a zoo. In that location, you have to avoid a land shark and get a monkey wrench that is under monkey bars while avoiding bananas being dropped by monkeys.

If it were me, I would have changed a few things. Wally would head a gang consisting of mythological characters, all talking as pirates. Though they would talk of destruction, they would actually use the objects they find to build things and help improve the community. They would try to avoid cheesecake obstacles and try not to slip in gravy. Maybe they would refresh themselves by eating raisins. I can't imagine what music would be playing in the background... I would probably keep the music off. :))

Hehe, that sounds kinda funny. Fun but simple.

Kinda reminds me of a skiing min-game found on Windows 3.1 6_9

Some of the older games are still the best games ever made. I still have an old Atari system that works with no problems at all! this game sounds pretty nifty. I wouldn't mind playing it just to see what its like.

Lol, now that would be funny! I grew up around C64 games so I know what they're like. Aztec Challenge was cool and it really used to wind up my brother :P

So have I, Rain. I really enjoyed the Aztec Challenge when it is around. Some games are still neat, despite their age. Jay, I want to play your version of that game!

There were so many great games made for Macintosh that we played on the old MacII... One of my favorites was Leprochaun... an old shareware game I doubt anyone remembers... but we had slightly better known games like Glypha and even the original Prince of Persia!

And one of my dad's coworkers/best friend is/was totally addicted to Oids... we were giving the MacII to his son's school a few years ago, and he kept the comp up at his house for like a month playing Oids! :))

Maybe the Lord-Master of all goblins has been too busy to post. Since my last paragraph could be interpreted as writing a story about a forum member and since there are rules about getting permission first, I sent him a copy of the post before posting it here. (Yes, I actually try to follow the rules.) His reply, though short, was positive and funny.

I agree that some of the older games are still great. On C64, I had a number of favorites. Trolls and Tribulations is still my favorite run and shoot platform game. Impossible Mission is still my favorite run and avoid obstacles platform game. The Castles of Dr. Creep is still my favorite multi-player cooperative puzzle game. I also liked Winter Games, Zaxxon, Beach Head, and Ghostbusters, although I wasn't that good with these. Still, I've spent more time with ZT then all of these others combined. (But, I don't actually "play" ZT. To me, it is a fun, educational simulation.)

Those games are still good....still good. :D

Zaxxon was a great game. I still have a working version of it for the Atari 800...I need to see if I can find some functioning joysticks I can buy. I'm down to my last two...
