Hi Everyone,

I would like to remove some objects, buildings, animals, etc from my ZT1, DD and MM to make room for more desireable critters and paraphenalia in order to simplify and personalize my game.

Downloading and installing is simple enough but I have no clue how to go from the other end. A computer hack or guru I'm not.

Can anyone out there instruct me on safe procedures?

Thanks in advance,

Babzoon

Are we talking removing User Created Objects/Animals/Buildings or the actual original dled from the game CD?

Thanks for Replying.

First, a question: What's a dled?

I would like to remove unused and/or unwanted objects and animals of any description in my game from any source, if possible. I do not want to modify the original game cd in case I want to recover anything...again, if possible.

Whatever is possible do I would like to know how to do. What is not possible to do is OK, too. Flexibility is my goal, learning is the key.

Thanks again,

"dled" usually means "downloaded".

The approach is different for ingame objects and animals versus user created objects and animals. I do not recommend changing ingame stuff. That would be a hack. If a mistake is a made, it could cause game crashes. Even if done correctly, it could conflict with other user created hacks. To have ingame things not show up ingame, one would have to extract one or more unlock files from the ingame ".ztd" files, edit them to remove or comment out what is not wanted, rezip them into a new ".ztd", and put that ".ztd" into the dlupdates or Updates folder. If one wanted to also remove ingame stuff from one's disk drive, one would have to also remove whichever things were not wanted from the various ingame ".ztd" files.

Removing user created objects and animals is usually easier. Hopefully you did not install user created stuff by using the "Get locally" option inside Zoo Tycoon. That creates extra files that can cause problems when trying to remove things. If you installed user created stuff by manually copying files into your dlupdates or Updates folders, you would just go into those folders and move or delete the user created ".ztd" files out of them.
