This is breaking news and full details have not yet been released.
Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, has died after being struck by a stingray barb in Queensland. He was diving from his boat "Croc 1" when the attack occured.
Steve, 44 died after the stingray barb went through the left side of his chest while he was shooting a documentary off Port Douglas. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Queensland Police Service has confirmed Mr Irwin's death. In a statement, it said Mr Irwin collapsed after being stung by a sting ray at Batt Reef, off Port Douglas, about 11am.
After being struck, the TV crew called for medical treatment and the Emergency Management Queensland Helicopter responded, but he was dead before the treatment arrived.
A spokesman for the Queensland Ambulance Service stated "The area it was delivered to was the problem. A sting ray hit to the chest is a big problem," he said.
The statement said Mr Irwin's family has been advised.
According to news sources Irwin is only the third person to have been even been attacked by a stingray in Australia.
Steve - known worldwide as the Crocodile Hunter - is famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry "Crikey!". His show was first aired in 1992 and has been shown around the world on cable network Discovery.
He also starred in movies and has developed the Australia Zoo wildlife park, north of Brisbane, which was started by his parents Bob and Lyn Irwin.
A sokeswoman for Irwin's Australia Zoo said she was aware of reports of his death and the zoo would not be making any statements at this stage.
He was a huge personality and his love and enthusiasm for wildlife was an inspiration to people the world over.
He will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children at this sad time.

It's amazing how someone you never met could still leave such a huge dent in your life when they're gone!
It would be cool if someone could design a "Steve Irwin Memorial Statue" that was coded so that it could be placed inside a Saltwater Croc (or even a Super Croc) exhibit! What a neat way to remember such a "vivid" person that would be!
(If someone were to do this, please keep in mind that a version for both ZT games would be nice as not all of us have jumped on the ZT2 bandwagon!)

I can't garauntee anything, but when i get my new computer i can finally load adobe on it, and i will try to make a statue of him.
The description will be "G'day Mate!" and someone should make a crocodile named Agro that is more agressive than usual and larger(not super croc sized though) in memory of his (Alive) favorite croc.
