I side with Superlion and Jay as well. This may seem arrogant of me...but though I practically worship animals (they're my favorite thing in the entire world)...the cows are our prey...and we eat them. That's that. It's not like anyone cares if a wolf goes and kills a deer to eat it. Why can't we do the same?
(Plus, I couldn't live without milk, cheese, and eggs...)

I need meat... I am anemic (Thalacemia minor) and need the iron I get from eating a steak becuase the iron pills dont seem to work. I know this sounds rather creepy but I know when my iron gets low becuase I start to crave meat and blood. And we are animals.. we and ants are the only 2 species that really wage war.. civilised indeed.
I love animals though... i have 2 dogs, an iguana, a rabbit, and a whole lot of fish. But I understand that thats what the animals are here for. So i agree with Superlion and Jay as well

You want to know what would happen if you didn't hunt, kill, or use animals for anything? Well sence animals do not have the brains to be able to figure things out (expecially domestocated ones). There will be a whole lot more animals... So now we have a lack of space becuase we cant stop them from breeding... Then there is all the food of ours they would eat becuase now all we eat is grains and plants. So now we are having to fight with other creatures for food. Plus all the weak animals that were born weak or are sick or injured would be lying around stinking up the place and the fecal matter. So we get more diseases becuase the animals are lying around decaying. And lets not get started on the carniverious animals.
While it might be sad.. it has to happen. But the whole "torturing" live stock.. you know what happens to your muscles when your streesed out before you die? It becomes stringy and tough.
I watched this show on discovery once where a dude ate nothing but 16 pounds of leafy greens... hes 32 and has early onset osteoprosses, has almost not muscle mass at all.. and many other things I can't even beging to put down becuase its rather distirbing.
Humans were made to eat meat and plants.. not just one or the other

We may not have the same drive as the wolf to eat meat, but, being omnivores, it is just as natural for us as it is for them.

Humans are indeed animals and you can't deny that. As 'prehumans' along the Rampithecus and Australopithecus part of our evolution, we hunted and killed for meat. Why not do it now? Besides, I'd rather not use subsitutes for things that I can get in an easier way...
Ah, and in abundance, a wolf will choose which type of meat that it will eat...some packs grew up with eating caribou, for example...they might not readily go after a moose if moose is all that is available.
(I actually dislike beef and steak most of the time. I'm rather partial to Gyro and pepperoni.

Well said, Wolfie.
Little, we're not trying to persuade you to change your diet back toward the natural human diet of omnivorism, we are simply debating why both sides would want to change their diets to the other, I believe, or just defending the other side of the debate.
In other words, we do care about the animals, but cannot deny the fact that humans were born omnivorous. We understand your feelings on the topic, but please...chill out.
Besides, steak is gooooood.

As a life-long vegitarian, milk is my life. I couldn't take a day without chocolate, milk, all that good stuff. But hurting cows, making them be milk-machines, it's wrong.
For me, not eating meat isn't an effort, it's kinda a vow. And, because I've never tasted real meat, I have no idea what it tastes like, so I tell myself it tastes like a combo of brocolli and mold. (No offese to all you carnivores out there.)
Boycott IAMS. They abuse animals, even though the law says they don't have to do tests. They do them anyway.

All of the dogs and cats I have ever owned have eaten Iams suppliment from the day that we've owned them...so...I'm not changing. My dog likes the food and it's healthy for her. *shrug* I assume that they don't do HARMFUL testing...probably just use different amounts of different vitamins and minerals...again, I'm only assuming.
